Copenhagen Arabic Book Fair Announced

Copenhagen, the Danish capital, will host the first edition of the Copenhagen Arabic Book Fair 2019, which will be held from November 29 to December 1, at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Cultural Center, one of the largest cultural centers in Europe.

Aladdin Barghouthi, director of the Copenhagen Arabic Book Fair, highlighted the strategic importance of the venue for the first edition of the fair in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. This is due to the capital's vibrant location, which includes Copenhagen International Airport, considered the most important air gateway in the Scandinavian countries, as well as the Øresund Bridge connecting the Danish capital to Malmö in southern Sweden, which has a large Arab community and adds to the Arab presence in Copenhagen.

Regarding the exhibition, Barghouthi announced that its first edition will be held under the patronage of the Hamad Bin Khalifa Cultural Center, one of the largest Arab cultural centers in Europe. A 1000 square meter area will be allocated for the exhibition, in addition to a theater and several halls for lectures, seminars, and workshops accompanying the fair.

Regarding publishing houses, Barghouthi stated that they have so far received confirmations from approximately 84 Arab publishing houses from Qatar, Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq, announcing that the registration period for the fair will continue until Sunday, September 23.

Barghouthi also pointed out that the fair will be accompanied by a rich and diverse cultural program with the presence of a group of guests who will be announced later. Barghouthi also confirmed that a full day of the fair will be dedicated to activities for children, including theatrical performances and storytelling of Arab tales in engaging ways.

Furthermore, Barghouthi noted that Nordic Digital World will carry out the logistical and organizational work for the fair, highlighting the presence of one of the most important European websites specialized in marketing Arabic books in Europe and Scandinavia, Arabiska Bazaar, which will serve as a digital platform to assist publishing houses in marketing their books through the digital space during the fair.
