suspicious minds
"Doubting Minds" is an excellent starting point for those wishing to understand madness or psychosis in the modern sense. It attempts to answer the first, deepest, and most common questions in psychiatry: What are delusions? What are their boundaries? And why might a delusion be systematic or fixed in one form or specific content in some patients, and different in others? Psychiatrists are undoubtedly aware of most of these facts, but what is new about the book is its unique approach to presenting the role played by societal culture in shaping delusions and, consequently, madness.
