The novel takes place in Gaza, during a truce between two wars, for Gaza is ruled by war just as the earth is ruled by rotation! Its protagonist is Hamza, a university student for whom the surface of the earth became too narrow, so he found space within its depths, digging tunnels in preparation for the coming battle.
