Crowd psychology
The author believes that the masses are irrational; they either reject or accept ideas wholesale, without bothering to discuss them. Whatever leaders tell them quickly invades their minds, leading them to transform it into action and movement. What leaders suggest to them is elevated to the status of an ideal, and then they are driven, in a volitional manner, to self-sacrifice.
