Insider Report

The "interior" is a companion to solitude, which is the only certain truth in his earthly life, as he reiterates in his books and through the lives of the protagonists of his novels, especially the heroes of the famous "New York Trilogy" with which he began his decades-long writing career. It is also the interior to which we escape from everything that penetrates the serenity of our rare moments. In the last chapter of this book, Auster addresses a message to his wife, in which his vision of the world and the importance and centrality of the "interior" to him become clear, where he says: "For me, the problem of the world is first and foremost a subjective problem, and a solution can only be achieved by starting from within."
