الكومبس | الدورة الرقمية الاستثنائية من معرض كوبنهاغن للكتاب العربي - ArabiskaBazar - أرابيسكابازار

The exceptional digital edition of the Copenhagen Arabic Book Fair 2020 concluded on Tuesday evening, October 20, 2020.

The session was held in cooperation between Nordic Digital World Company and Dar Lusail, with media sponsorship from Alkompis Media Foundation, and digital sponsorship from Arabiscabazar platform, specialized in marketing Arabic books in Europe. This followed the postponement of the second session of the fair due to another wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, leading organizers to rely on a two-dimensional and three-dimensional virtual digital platform.

In turn, Alaa Barghouti, the director of the fair, expressed his deep gratitude to all participants, guests, and sponsors, especially Alkompis, the media sponsor of the fair's second edition. Barghouti also highlighted the fair's success in its cultural program, which hosted thinkers and researchers from Iraq, the guest of honor for the fair's second edition, with the participation of prominent Iraqi literary, intellectual, and publishing figures. The fair also saw the participation of guests from Europe, the Arabian Gulf, Egypt, Morocco, and the Arab world.

Barghouti emphasized the importance of Arabic book fairs held in Europe, given the space they provide to promote a culture of dialogue and cooperation, spread democracy, and support positive integration by fostering the Arabic language and culture and introducing Arabic culture based on respect for others and intellectual diversity.

Furthermore, the fair hosted a joint seminar with the Swedish Royal Library, attended by a representative from the Swedish Public Libraries Association, in addition to numerous seminars featuring Arab writers, publishers, translators, and artists from the Arab world and Europe.

The fair witnessed the participation of approximately 28,000 print and digital titles from over 200 publishing houses from all Arab countries, in addition to Arab publishing houses in Europe and a group of prestigious Arabic bookstores in Europe.

It is worth noting that the exceptional digital edition of the Copenhagen Fair was held digitally in an attempt to overcome the negative effects of the spread of the Coronavirus, which led to the suspension of many international and Arab fairs.

It is recalled that the first edition of the Copenhagen Fair was held last year, organized by Nordic Digital World Company, with the participation of about one hundred Arab publishing houses, which was the first of its kind in the Danish capital at that time.
